For many people, thinking about what happens after we leave this life can be a big mystery. It is a question that every person must face. In the Christian faith, especially as taught in the ministry of the Lord’s recovery and the Life-study messages, death is not the end of a person, but rather the beginning of a new, eternal life for those who believe in Jesus Christ.
The Bible makes it clear that we are not just a body; we are a spirit, soul, and body. When a person dies, the spirit and soul leave the physical body. The body returns to the earth, but the spirit and soul of a believer immediately go to be with the Lord Jesus in a wonderful place called paradise.
For Christians, death means being “at home with the Lord” (2 Corinthians 5:8). It is a time of comfort and rest. This is not the final step, but a waiting period. It is a state of happiness where they are with their Savior and are not troubled by the problems of the world anymore.
Later, a very important event called the resurrection will happen. This is when the spirits and souls of all believers will be reunited with a new, perfect, and glorified body. This resurrected body will be much better than the one we have now; it will be a “spiritual body” that can never die or get sick. This transformation is a gift from God through the victory of Jesus over death.
After the resurrection, believers will take part in a judgment, but it is not a judgment for their salvation. Their salvation is already secured by believing in Jesus. This is more of a judgment for reward (often called the judgment seat of Christ), where the Lord will look at how each person lived for Him on earth. Those who were faithful and loved the Lord will receive a reward and enjoy a special time with Christ called the millennium.
In the final step, all true believers will enter into the New Jerusalem forever. This is the ultimate destination, a wonderful city where God and all His people live together in a perfect, peaceful, and eternal union. There will be no more sadness, no more crying, and no more pain. God’s purpose is to live with humanity for all time.
So, according to this teaching, what happens after you die depends on one simple choice you make now: believing in Jesus Christ. For the believer, death is simply a short step from this world’s struggles to the presence of the Lord, followed by a glorious resurrection and eternal life with God. This knowledge gives great peace and hope, showing that the future is bright.
